The very special celebration service on November 16th was well attended on a rather windy and rainy Saturday afternoon. Over 120 parishoners, family, friends and all who have been a part of St. Stephens gathered at our church to celebrate and remember St.Stephen's. It is not an ending, but rather, the end of one chapter and the anticipated hope of a new beginning.
The Ven. Stephen Muir presided and Rev. Jonathan Pinkney preached the sermon. They were joined by Canon Donald Lawton and Rev. Cameron Gutjahr. Also in attendance was Rev. Tellison Glover, Ven. Nick Pang and Rev. Alex Wilson. The parish was delighted and honoured to have Bishop John Stephen assist with the service, especially so, as he just arrived from Asia the day before.
Music Director, Annabelle Paetsch directed the church choir along with members of St.Stephen's Community Choir to raise voices and spirits. Musical accompaniment by Trumpeter, Paul Dubnik and Bag Piper, Mike Chisolm added to the meanginful moments during the service.
Memories and stories of life at St. Stephen's were provided by Kathy Lefeaux, Margaret Rolfe, Ruth Brock, David Petitpierre and Tom Gunn.
All were welcome to view the Archives Room where a selection of historial documents had been carefully prepared by Jan Harvey.
Reception afterwards included a photo montage slideshow of life at the parish over the past 40 plus years.
Services have now ended at St. Stephens while it is under redevelopment. The parish now worships at our sister church; St. Christopher's Anglican Church. Our parish will continue to have faith while we await the rebirth of St. Stephen's in the near future.
